The Artist in Residency Program is an integral part of the Arts in Education Partnership. Artist residencies place practicing professional artists of all disciplines in a variety of educational and community settings to work on projects of varying scopes. Participating artists must apply to in the program, and are chosen by a qualified panel based upon their expertise. The Artist Residencies place emphasis on in-depth involvement in the creative process as well as the unique integration of a core curriculum with an art form.
Essentially, not only do students participate in a specific artistic discipline, but may also learn History, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies or English through the creation of art!
The Arts Council of Erie’s Arts in Education Partnership also offers other benefits:
- Professional development opportunities are available to artists, educators, administrators, and community leaders.
- Special community projects and residencies are planned, funded and implemented.
- Arts Education fund development is ongoing to assist with projects and programs through additional grants.
- Arts Education advocacy and Information sharing is done year around to ensure the community understands the benefits of the arts and how they can access programming.
